“I offered you full legal control of Christopher’s seized personal assets, Nora,” Raymond said.

“Arthur told me you signed the waiver this morning.”

“I don’t want Christopher’s money or his personal property,” I said.

“He tried to put you out on the street with twenty-four dollars in your pocket,” Raymond said.

“You could have taken his bank accounts and his waterfront condo.”

“I don’t want Christopher destroyed beyond what justice requires,” I said.

“I only want my son safe.”

Raymond let out a quiet breath, the raspy catch in his throat completely gone.
