She picked up her phone, opened a premium food-delivery service, and found a downtown steakhouse — the kind of place with a tasting menu and a wine list you needed both hands to hold.
She ordered three complete dinners.
The full tasting menu, the ribeye, the truffle risotto, the gourmet salads, the desserts, and a bottle of wine that cost more than most people spend on a week of groceries.
She ordered like a woman who had stopped caring what anything cost, because in that moment she had.
“And how many are we serving this evening?” the person taking the order asked.
