He found no evidence whatsoever that I lacked the capacity to manage my own affairs, and, he added, substantial reason to believe that the petition itself might have been filed for improper financial purposes rather than out of any genuine concern for my welfare.

Those were careful judicial words, and they landed like stones.

He referred the forged power of attorney, the altered medical records, and the evidence of physical abuse to the prosecutor’s office and to adult protective services for investigation.
