Chapter 10 — The Police Station

The next morning, with Rachel beside me and a family-law attorney I had called at dawn, I walked into a police station and filed a formal report for child abuse against Wendy Vance.

I submitted the video, and the medical documentation of the red mark on Fiona’s cheek, which I had had examined and photographed at a clinic the night before, on the advice of the part of me that had spent a month preparing.

An hour later, my attorney filed an emergency motion for sole custody and a temporary protective order against both Luca and Wendy.
