Permission to Save Myself
Chapter 7 — Who Paid the Doctor
At the emergency hearing, Paige walked in wearing a bright white suit and a confident smile, Brenda seated proudly in the gallery behind her. Logan sat with his legal team and would not look at me.
The judge began reviewing the psychiatric report.
Samuel rose. “Before the court accepts that evaluation into the record, we request a forensic audit of who paid this doctor and which account was used.”
The courtroom went silent. The judge granted it and ordered an immediate digital audit of the payment trail. The funds, it turned out, had come from a shell company owned by Paige — and the file’s metadata showed the document had been created two days before the alleged consultation.
Paige went pale as the judge studied the timestamps.
Samuel wasn’t finished. He plugged Hannah’s flash drive into the courtroom display and played a video from my old phone: Logan, screaming at me to cry on camera so he could edit the footage for later leverage.
