The company that my family had nearly destroyed with their greed was, under my hand, cleaner and stronger and more profitable than it had ever been under theirs.
There was a justice in that beyond any courtroom’s: that the firm they had built on fraud and run into the ground would flourish, honestly, in the hands of the daughter they had declared unfit to carry its name.
The hundreds of ordinary employees whose jobs I had fought to preserve in the restructuring still had their livelihoods.
The tainted holdings were gone.
And the roadmap I had drawn in secret, in the years when no one thought me capable of anything, had become the operating plan of a thriving enterprise.
