Seven months after our divorce, I rushed into St. Jude’s Children’s and Women’s Hospital, still angry at my ex-wife, only to learn that she had just given birth to twin boys, and both of them were mine. Before the night was over, a nurse would place a brass key in my hand and tell me to use it before my own family arrived. And what was waiting for me beyond that was even more shocking.
“Will Margaret Lin accept this digital evidence as genuine?” I asked.
“She’ll check its authenticity thoroughly before she acts,” Evelyn assured me.
“That’s all I can ask for,” I said.
Evelyn then turned her sharp eyes directly on Marcus Vance.
“And this young man must stand up and tell the truth,” Evelyn added sternly.
Marcus’s whole body tensed with anxiety.
“I understand,” Marcus whispered weakly.
“You have a wife and children of your own to think about, Marcus,” Evelyn reminded him coldly.
