“Sunniva, I need you to sign the asset-management agreement tonight.”
“Tonight?” I kept my voice level.
“The wedding’s in seventy-two hours.”
“The bank freezes our credit line tomorrow morning.” His voice climbed.
“I just need to pledge your firm’s assets as collateral for ninety days —”
When I told him, calmly, that my board would have to review any emergency pledge first, his face changed into something I had only heard through a shutter until now.
