“I’ve known since Tuesday.”

“Lily.”

“I know.” She closed the laptop. “I know, I know. I was going to tell you. I wanted to have something to say first, because I knew you’d want to fix it, and I didn’t want you to start fixing it before I’d decided what I wanted.”

Daniel sat down in the chair across from her, which he had learned to do instead of sitting next to her, because she talked better with distance.

“Do you want me to call somebody?”

“I already did. I called a lawyer on Wednesday.” Lily pulled her sleeves down over her hands. “Dad, I want to tell you what she said and I want you to let me get to the end of it.”
