So I Acted Like One
My tiredness was my condition, a fact of my life to be endured, not a problem to be solved.
It had never occurred to either of us, before that night, that my exhaustion might also deserve a real solution, purchased with our shared money.
His fatigue was an emergency; mine was the weather.
And once I saw that double standard clearly, once I actually looked at it, it became impossible to un-see, and impossible to justify.
Why should his tiredness entitle him to a fishing trip while mine entitled me only to more tiredness?
Why was our joint money available to solve his depletion but not mine?
