Something He Had to Deserve
Leo moved toward the monitor. He stared at the grainy shape on the screen — the curve of a spine, the outline of a head, one tiny hand raised near the face.
For the first time since Chloe had met him, Leo Moretti appeared uncertain.
“And Chloe?” he asked.
“Her blood pressure is a little low. She’s mildly anemic, which explains the fatigue and swelling. More iron, regular meals, and significantly less stress.”
Leo’s gaze moved to her. “You heard him.”
“I was in the room.”
