Something I Finally Refused to Lose
Landen stepped closer to me, his voice low and threatening. “You think you can do whatever you want just because your father left you money?”
Emilia closed the folder halfway and looked at him. “Actually, Mr. Bradley, Elisa’s father anticipated a situation involving improper pressure on trust property.”
Landen went completely still.
Years earlier, my father had established a protective trust after selling the logistics company he’d spent most of his adult life building. I’d thought some of its provisions were excessive, and Landen had openly disliked them.
One provision allowed the trustees to challenge any transfer connected to deception, falsified authorization, improper pressure, or an attempt by a spouse to gain control of protected assets.
It also allowed certain linked obligations to be pursued against the responsible party’s separate business interests.
