Damon looked toward first class, where his briefcase held the agreement Nora wanted him to sign. He had trusted Nora with his company, his schedule, his communications, his reputation.

During the chaotic first year of Prescott Technologies, she had screened every call and handled every possible distraction. Apparently she had decided Cassandra and two unborn children were distractions too.

The captain announced their descent into Denver. Damon’s phone would reconnect within twenty minutes. Nora would be waiting. So would the most important contract of his career.

He looked at Luke and Violet. The choice should not have felt like a choice at all.
