Take Care of Them While I’m Gone
The name hit me. Emma had been a marketing intern at Everett’s firm two years ago.
“The transfers were disguised as consulting fees,” Gavin went on. “She’s twenty-four, officially unemployed — and property records show a waterfront condo in Miami was just deeded in her name.”
He’d bled our accounts to build a coastal love nest for a woman ten years younger.
“We move fast,” Gavin said. “A petition for dissolution, plus an emergency motion to freeze every asset tied to his Social Security number. But I need an ironclad location on Everett to prove he’s a flight risk.”
“Draft it,” I said, standing to button my blazer. “I’ll find where the coward is hiding.”
From there I went straight to the executive floor at Everett’s employer, Apex Solutions, to see his director, Susan.
