Sixteen weeks between a criminal charge and nothing at all, and the sixteen weeks were consumed by a woman sleeping against a wall in Terminal 4 because an airline does not pay for hotels when it rains.

I have had to put that down.

It took about two years and I am not certain I have.

Part Twenty-Six: What I Could Do

The civil side survived, and the reason it survived is a provision of the New York civil practice rules that I now know by heart.

For an action based on fraud, the limitation period is six years from the fraud, or two years from the date the plaintiff discovered it or with reasonable diligence could have discovered it, whichever is longer.

Whichever is longer.
