The analysis of these individuals — including, in some cases, before the Cheddar Man study — had already established that WHG individuals tended to have dark skin, blue or green eyes, and dark hair.
Cheddar Man was consistent with this pattern.
The WHG were not physiologically exotic.
They were anatomically modern humans, with the same cognitive capabilities and behavioral sophistication as any contemporary human population.
They were skilled hunters and gatherers who understood the ecology of postglacial Europe in extraordinary detail — they had to, to survive and thrive in an environment that was changing rapidly as the ice retreated and new ecosystems established themselves.
They built no permanent monuments.
