These questions will be partially answered by continued archaeological work in the Great Basin — by the excavation and analysis of additional sites, the recovery and study of additional organic materials, the application of new dating methods and new analytical techniques to old and new samples alike.

They will be partially answered by the oral traditions and cultural knowledge of the living communities descended from the early Great Basin peoples — knowledge that the scientific community is only beginning to learn to take seriously as a form of evidence.
