With the Spirit Cave and Kennewick Man genomes published and analyzed, and with the subsequent accumulation of ancient American DNA data from sites across both continents, the Paleoamerican hypothesis has effectively ceased to be a live scientific controversy.

The question it posed — whether the earliest Americans were genetically distinct from modern Native American populations — has been answered clearly and consistently by multiple independent lines of genomic evidence.

The answer is no.
