The founding population of the Americas was diverse.

The Ancient Beringian lineage was part of that diversity.

The first Americans were the ancestors of all Native American peoples.

And one of the oldest representatives of that founding diversity was an infant, buried in a hearth, in interior Alaska, eleven and a half thousand years ago.

Her genome is in a database now.

It will be there when the next generation of researchers builds models that USR1’s team could not have imagined.

It will be there when the questions of 2030 and 2040 and beyond reach back to the founding of the Americas for data that the 2018 researchers captured and preserved.
