It confirmed, in direct biological terms, that the people who made and used Clovis technology were the ancestors — in the broad population-genetic sense — of the Indigenous peoples of the Americas.

The Clovis people were not a separate, extinct wave of settlers who had been replaced by later arrivals.

They were part of the genealogical heritage of the people who have been living in the Americas ever since.

The genome also addressed the Solutrean hypothesis directly and decisively.

If Clovis people had originated from Ice Age Europe, or had received significant genetic input from European populations, the Anzick-1 genome should have shown substantial similarity to ancient or modern European populations.

It did not.
