The half-acre pond at Windover was left half unexcavated, preserving the remaining material for future science.

The Arlington Springs site, in a different way, also holds potential for future investigation.

The femora are gone — repatriated and reburied.

The direct dating and chemical analysis of the bones themselves is complete.

But the site at Arlington Canyon continues to hold information in its sediments.

The geological record of the canyon — the layered history of alluvial deposition, climate change, and ecological transformation recorded in the stratigraphy — has not been fully read.

Future work with more refined chronological methods, better environmental reconstruction techniques, and potentially new methods for detecting ancient organic material in sediments might reveal more about the environment that the Arlington Springs individual inhabited, or about the presence of other individuals in the same general context.
