The results of the geological work corroborated the bone dates.

The stratum from which the femora had eroded — identifiable by its position and its sedimentological characteristics — consistently produced dates in the range established by the bone collagen: around 10,000 to 11,500 radiocarbon years BP, calibrating to the terminal Pleistocene.

The geological and stratigraphic evidence confirmed that the bones had been deposited in the late Pleistocene, not in some later period from which they had somehow sunk down or been reworked.

The convergence of independent lines of evidence — bone protein chemistry, charcoal radiocarbon, rodent bone dates, and independent geological chronostratigraphy — produced what researchers describe as a robust age determination.
