It did not complete the story.

The people who made this evidence — who lived in this landscape, who knew its resources well enough to hunt its most dangerous animals with weapons they engineered from the bones of those same animals — are beyond the reach of science in most of the ways that would make them fully human to us.

We know what they did.

We do not know who they were.

That gap — between what we can demonstrate and what we would need to know to call these people by name — is not a failure of the science.
