The Manis site has been excavated, but archaeological excavation is not simply a process of removing evidence until it is exhausted.

The site still contains material that has not been fully analyzed.

The sediment matrix around the mastodon skeleton may still hold artifacts, animal bones, or other organic material that would add to or complicate the existing picture.

Future excavations, if they are conducted, may produce additional evidence of human activity at the site.
