Several Pacific Northwest sites have provided evidence consistent with coastal-adapted early human presence.

The Paisley Caves in Oregon — inland, but not far from a former lake environment — have produced coprolites and other evidence dated to approximately 14,000 to 14,500 calibrated years before the present.

Cooper’s Ferry in Idaho, located along the Salmon River drainage, has produced artifacts with dates potentially extending to 15,000 to 16,000 years ago — evidence of human presence in the Pacific drainage system substantially earlier than the accepted Clovis horizon.

The Manis site, on the Olympic Peninsula, sits within this broader Pacific Northwest context.
