The tepui highlands as a whole are a center of amphibian endemism, with hundreds of species found only on individual summits or within the tepui region.

The bird fauna of Roraima and the surrounding tepui region is also distinctive, though birds — capable of flight — are less restricted by the cliffs than ground-dwelling animals, and tepui birds tend to range across multiple summits rather than being restricted to a single one.

The tepui highlands support species such as the Tepui swift, the Roraimian nightjar, and various species of tanagers, antbirds, and hummingbirds that are specifically adapted to the highland environment.

The insects of the tepui summits include some of the most remarkable examples of endemism.
