The Pemón And Their Mountain

The tepui landscape of the Gran Sabana is the homeland of the Pemón people — a group of Indigenous peoples speaking Cariban languages who have inhabited the Pakaraima region for many generations.

The Pemón are not a single homogeneous group; they include several subdivisions — the Arekuna, Taurepán, and Kamarakoto among others — each with distinct territories and cultural traditions, though sharing the Pemón language and many aspects of cultural practice.
