The resulting population moved east and north into Beringia and eventually south into the Americas.

This reframing changed the question from “how did East Asians get to the Americas” to “how did the specific mixture of ancestries found in the founding population of the Americas form, and where and when did the key mixing events occur.”

These are richer questions.

They do not have single clean answers.

They require the analysis of many ancient genomes from many locations across northern Asia and the Americas to address.

And they remain, in their details, actively debated among researchers who are still working through the evidence.
