The 2019 paper — “The population history of northeastern Siberia since the Pleistocene,” published in the journal Nature on June 5, 2019 — was an international effort of considerable scale.

The lead author was Martin Sikora of the Lundbeck Foundation Centre for GeoGenetics at the University of Copenhagen.

The senior author was Eske Willerslev, who holds joint positions at the University of Copenhagen and St John’s College, University of Cambridge, and is one of the most prominent figures in the field of ancient DNA research.
