The value of the reserve is precisely that it is undisturbed — that it preserves the original context, with all the contextual information that excavation inevitably destroys.

The tradeoff between scientific access and contextual preservation is one that future researchers will have to negotiate with the legal and ethical frameworks of their own time, including whatever changes in Indigenous consultation requirements have occurred by then.
