Individuals who lived long enough for their skeletons to show the changes of advancing age — arthritis in the joints, changes in bone density.

The oldest individuals appear to have reached their mid-sixties, which would have been a considerable lifespan for a hunter-gatherer population living 8,000 years ago without access to modern medicine.

Both sexes were present in roughly equal proportions, which was also significant.
