Windover allows the distortion to be partially quantified.

From a period when only stone tools and fire features would normally survive, Windover yielded 87 fragments of complex woven textile, a collection of bone and antler artifacts, wooden stakes, gourd material, and gut contents with dietary evidence.

All of this would be entirely absent from the record if the preservation conditions at the site had been typical Florida conditions rather than the exceptional peat environment of the pond.

The stone tool assemblage from Windover is relatively small.
