Windover Farms was built.

The houses are there, the streets are there, the infrastructure of a Florida residential subdivision surrounds the small pond that is Windover Pond.

Residents of the neighborhood live their ordinary lives around the edges of what is, beneath the surface, one of the most significant archaeological sites in North America.

They may know this, or they may not.

They may drive past the pond in the morning without thinking about what is under the water.

They may see a heron standing at the pond’s edge and think nothing beyond the ordinary pleasure of seeing a wading bird in its habitat.
