As land is cleared, as erosion exposes buried materials, as systematic survey is conducted in previously unstudied areas, the picture of Archaic occupation on the plateau is constantly being refined and extended.

Each new sinkhole investigated, each new burial site excavated, adds to the record of who was here and what they were doing.

The coastal plain sites are similarly incompletely known.

The Guadalupe River corridor has been intensively surveyed in some areas and barely touched in others.
