The land containing the site was owned by the DuPont Corporation (now Invista), adding a corporate dimension to the negotiations.

After protracted discussions involving federal and state agencies, federally recognized tribes, other Indian groups, private corporations, and archaeological organizations, a compromise was reached.

The archaeological team was given several years to study the remains and conduct scientific analyses.

Then, in April 2006, the human remains and associated grave goods were reburied by members of the Lipan Apache Band of Texas and the Invista Corporation.

The reburial was, from a legal and ethical standpoint, a resolution.
