The Second Opening — A Different Question Entirely

Here is where the story turns, around the middle of this account, and opens a fundamentally different question.

So far, the narrative has been about discovery: the sinkholes found, the burials excavated, the bones analyzed, the lives reconstructed in partial outline.

The scientific frame has been dominant — what can we learn, what can archaeology tell us, what does the ancient DNA question mean for understanding who these people were.

But there is another frame, and it belongs to a different set of stakeholders.
