The Accounting
That is the part I cannot get anybody to understand.
Twenty-eight thousand eight hundred dollars a year for eighteen and a half years is five hundred and thirty-two thousand dollars, and it went on a golf membership, a florist, a cleaner twice a week, a roof in 2011, three law firms, a fifty-five-thousand-dollar capital contribution to a holding company set up to buy her son’s mortgage, and about a hundred and ninety thousand dollars of ordinary household running that a woman with no income had to find from somewhere.
It was never a fortune.
It was a wage.
