I documented the timeline first. The party had started at 2:22 p.m. The alarm sounded around 2:34. Forty-three children and thirty-one adults had evacuated.
Kobe had injured his knee. Sailor had openly admitted why she pulled the alarm. Gage had never denied encouraging her. My mother had stood beside him through all of it.
Facts mattered. Unlike emotions, facts can’t be rewritten later.
I contacted the four parents who’d been close enough to hear Sailor’s confession. Within an hour, two agreed to give written statements — one confirming she’d mentioned the promised console, another that Gage never denied being responsible.
