Only one decision remained. Should I contact Gage’s employer?

I didn’t want him unemployed. Sailor depended on him. Family conflict shouldn’t automatically become workplace business. Still, Gage was a financial advisor, and his firm promoted integrity, responsible judgment, and honest financial representation.

He had publicly taken credit for expensive payments I had made. And he’d persuaded a child to create a false emergency inside a crowded building as revenge over a refused loan.

I called Rebecca Lin, an employment attorney who’d once advised our clinic. After hearing the facts, she asked one question. “Are you asking whether you can contact his employer?”

“I’m asking whether I should.”

“That’s not a legal question.”
