He shook his head.

“You said it wasn’t for me.” Emily smiled proudly.

“You listened.” Dr. Collins carefully handed the folded note back to Emily.

Emily looked at it for a long time before placing it inside the music box again.

“I wrote that months ago,” she said quietly. “I wasn’t sure anyone would ever need to read it.”
