Dana blinked. “You know.”
“No, I don’t.”
“Maddie, please.” She lowered her voice. “People are talking.”
“They’ll talk if I leave.”
Dana glanced toward the remaining guests. “They’ll talk less.”
“No, they’ll just invent more.”
“Maddie—”
“I have dinner plans.”
Dana looked at the empty groom’s chair. Maddie placed her ivory napkin across her lap. “I’m serious.”
“You can’t sit here alone and eat your wedding dinner.”
“Why not?”
