The man on the other end hesitated. “Ma’am, at that resolution, the… uh… details of the subjects will be very prominent.”
“That’s exactly the point,” I said. “Spare no expense.”
Friday arrived under a heavy gray sky. Daniel was out on the golf course, schmoozing investors who would inevitably decline his hollow proposals. At two, a delivery van pulled into the driveway.
Two men carried a massive black cylindrical tube into my foyer.
I tipped them generously, locked the door, and spent the next hour unrolling the thing. Seeing it on a phone screen had been painful. Seeing it rendered life-size, the undeniable reality of it looming over me in high definition, was something else.
It was grotesque. It was perfect.
