Sophie’s face did something terrible. “I know. I’ve done that math. I’ve done that math so many times I could do it asleep.”
“I’m not doing it at you,” I said. “I’m doing it with you. That’s different and I need you to believe me that it’s different.”
She looked at me for a long moment.
