Linnea checked her clearance.

As the Chief Financial Officer still named on the corporate charter — a title Dorian had encouraged everyone, including her, to treat as decorative — she retained the authority to freeze a pending wire, provided she executed the freeze in person, before the board, and accepted formal liability for the audit that would follow.

For five years Dorian had presented her as a fragile, ornamental wife.
