Part Eleven: The Automatic Orders

There is a mechanism in this state that I did not know about and that is, in my opinion, the most quietly useful thing in the whole of family law, and I now tell everybody about it.

When a dissolution complaint is served in Connecticut, a set of orders takes effect immediately, automatically, without any judge doing anything and without either party asking.

They are printed on the paperwork.
