The Courage to Hear the Whisper
Carolina tried to keep her voice low and pleading. “Sawyer, everything just got out of control. I’m exhausted, and I’ve been alone for too long,” she whispered.
“You know I’m not a bad mother.”
Sawyer didn’t respond. He just stood there with his arms crossed.
She opened a folder she’d brought with her. “Let’s just make a deal. I’ll go to therapy, you won’t take legal action, and we keep all of this quiet so Gracie doesn’t have to learn things she’s way too young to understand.”
“Things like the fact that she has a sister named Fernanda?” Sawyer asked sharply.
Carolina’s entire face went pale. Bonnie gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. “Who told you that name?” she shrieked.
