The Crate in the Parking Lot
She takes something to sleep.
She has since 2014.
She has never once said the word ‘daughters’ out loud in our house without shutting down inside about ninety seconds.
“I’m not asking you for anything.
I don’t have any standing to.
I’m telling you because in about an hour somebody’s going to make a decision, and I’d rather the people making it had the facts.”
Then he said, “Your daughter looks very happy,” which was true, and he went back out into the courtyard.
