The Crate in the Parking Lot
I’m not going to pretend this is a reunion.
I don’t know you.
I’m not ready to know you and I honestly don’t know if I ever will be, and I’m not going to promise anybody anything in a room with a cake in it.
“But you’re not going to be a lie I tell about myself anymore.
I’ve been carrying a version of you around for fifteen years because it was easier to carry than the real one, and I’m putting it down today, and that’s not a gift to you, it’s housekeeping.
“Thank you for coming and sitting at the back.”
