Ryan’s eyes dropped to the folder. His face went pale before the sentence was even finished.

The legal director opened it. “Your husband listed himself as co-owner.”

For a moment Linda didn’t understand. Ashley did. Her eyes snapped toward Ryan. “Co-owner of what?”

The legal director set the document on the narrow console table in the hallway. Maya didn’t touch it. She could see enough from where she stood — Ryan’s name where it should not have appeared, attached to a claim of spousal executive access on the hospitality account.

It wasn’t ownership in the legal sense. It was worse in another way. It was arrogance in writing. Ryan had assumed that proximity to Maya was the same thing as permission.
