Across the hallway, Wyatt and Emmett stood beside the court officer. Wyatt pretended to study a poster on the wall, but Emmett was listening to every word.
I walked over and knelt to meet their eyes. “You two holding up okay?”
Wyatt looked at his shoes. “Mom, did Dad lie to us about everything?”
I took a breath, determined not to let my own bitterness poison how they saw their father. “Your dad didn’t tell you the whole history honestly. But this is an adult matter, and it isn’t yours to fix.”
Emmett grabbed my hand. “Are we still going to live with you in our house?”
